Rearview Mirror – Joe Stone’s 2010

Spend a year with me.

Launching a new segment today.  We emailed several of our rock and roll friends and asked them to compile either the year or the decade in review in music for us.  Didn’t put any limits on having to be albums released or anything like that, just their personal musical moments.

First up is former Tremendous Fucking and current Outer Planets member Joe Stone.  Let’s see what he did the last three six five.

Stationary Caroling With Heypenny

Oh technology, how you complete us.  No more need for carolers to go strolling the mean streets in an attempt to spread a little joy.  No more fear of random carolers showing up demanding figgy pudding.  No, no.  Heypenny has it right.  They stay comfy in their living room, you stay comfy in yours, and no one gets hurt.

You can purchase the song at Heypenny’s website, which you will get to by clicking on their illuminated name in the first paragraph.

Also, they have a new record, A Jillion Kicks, coming spring 2011.

Also, also, check out a random but entertaining behind the scenes of the making of the above video below the jump.

Sound as Vision – Ghost in the Machine

Your move mp3. Your move.

This very cool flikr set by artist Erika Iris Simmons was brought to our attention today, and we’re spreading the love.  For our younger readers, the above is a cassette tape which was a medium for hearing music back when huffing freon and rocking out and jumping railroad tracks was something that the kids did.  Golden times indeed.

Check it out below for some of our other favorites from Erika’s work.  We more or less just picked the musical artists we dig the most as a way to whittle it down, because all of her work is amazing.

Where the Internet Took Us

Postcard Elba Headquarters

We wanted to do a post that was winter themed today as winter has suddenly themed itself all over us here at Postcard Elba.  However, we thought why just post something musically winter related when we can educate as well as entertain?

Frank Turner Overdrive – Who Better to Bring Our Blog Back to Life

My rock face. Let me show it to you.

Hey, once again we went off the air for way too long.  Probably because we seem to think that the internet somehow works like a radio signal.  But don’t worry, we’ll get the hang of this thing, we swear!

For your patience and because we’ve been sitting on it for way too long, here’s some photos and a review of our old pal Frank Turner’s show on November 6th, 2010 at Ram’s Head Live, opening for Lucero.  Enjoy!
