This Day in Music History (Sort Of)

It was on this day in 1943, that Bobby Fischer was born in Chicago, Illinois. Fischer went on to become the only American ever to win the chess world championship. Raised in Brooklyn, New York, by his mother, Fischer was introduced to chess at the age of six. By the time he was a teenager, he was known as the wunderkind of American chess and in 1956, he won the U.S. chess championship at the age of 14, making him the youngest champion in American history. At 15, he became the youngest international grandmaster in chess history when he placed in the top six of the 1958 Portoroz Interzonal tournament.

You know who loves chess?  Wu-Tang Clan mastermind and occasional actor RZA.  He loves it so much that two years ago he started something called wuchess.com (which sadly now just directs to the occasionally hilarious Wu Wednesdays twitter feed) and issued a chess rap challenge.  More on all of this below.
First up is Rakaa from Dilated Peoples explaining wuchess.com – an online community for chess and hip-hop lovers, and also people who wanted more kung-fu sound effects in their online chess.
And here is RZA issuing the rap challenge.
And here is MC Paul Barman absolutely destroying the challenge.  Seriously, we watched as many submissions we could find, and no one comes even close to the genius of this one.
Check and mate.
