SXSWland Tales – Nick Cross

We didn’t go to SXSW this year, but a lot of people we know did.  We’ve thrown out the invitation for them to document their experiences here, in a little segment we’re callingSXSWland Tales.

Here’a another entry from our friend Nick Cross – tour manager for Asobi Seksu and co-host of the podcast Nick & Mat’s Infinite Shitlist.

What the fuck happened yesterday? No Wu Tang for me, but people I know who went said it was shitty, so nothing missed. We did a day party for Prefix Mag that was an hour behind schedule thanks to Das Racists being douches. The show was ok, nothing too great. Afterwards we went home, watched a bit of the tourney, played some catch, and then headed back to town to party.

Me and a couple of the dudes went to a party that was advertising free bbq. After an hour and a half, none was produced, so I dumped half a beer on their chaffers and walked out. Got some food truck food in me and then split off to see my friends band Arms. They were pretty damn good. Check em out. This is where the night gets hazy. Drank many beers and took many shots with some people from tellallyourfriends PR. Wandered to the Mohawk and didn’t pay attention while Gayngs played. Got turned away from an after party that looked crappy anyway. Missed my ride home, and started walking. Made it two of the four miles before giving up and miraculously waving down a cab on the first try. Home at 5, super drunk, 4 hours of sleep, back at it.

I leave you with my current view sitting by the river waiting for Asobi Seksu to get done doing a take away show for la blogotheque. Anyone got some advils?
