Rearview Mirror – Jared Thompson

Rearview Mirror is our annual look back at the year in music from our friends in and around the business.  Musicians, managers, roadies, superfans, bloggers etc..

Jared Thompson is perhaps best known for being, along with his wife Dayna and their son Max, owner of The Comedy Attic. But before becoming a comedy empresario, Jared fronted the hardcore band The Witchcraft Season and was an independent promoter of rock & roll shows.  He remains an impassioned music supporter and as seen above, occasional Live Band Karaoke contestant.  Check out his picks for the best of 2011 below.

This Day in Music History

Who's doing what now?

Our good friends over at History.com let us know that it was this day in 1986 that Columbia Records made the super awesome decision to drop Johnny Cash from their roster after 26 years.  Being the savvy and brilliant types who cared only about that financial quarter’s bottom line and not how history (or History.com) would judge them, they also dropped Miles Davis from the label earlier that year.
